Espita

The CEDROS BOUTIQUE HOTEL is located in the historical centre of the village of Espita. Espita is an authentic village in the heart of the Yucatán, off the beaten tourist track. It is an ideal place for eco-tourism, to discover the cultural traditions, the local gastronomy, the colonial and traditional architecture, the handicrafts as well as the richness of the nature of Monte Yucateco. Ideally located, Espita allows you to visit many tourist sites such as Ek Balam, Chichen Itza, Rio Lagartos or Valladolid but also to discover more exclusive places such as the numerous haciendas and intimate cenotes of the region.

Cenotes

There are more than 10,000 cenotes in the Yucatán Peninsula. We are lucky to have several around Espita. Each cenote is different in size, water colour and soul.

Ek Balam & Cenote X’Canche

35 min / 36 km --- Ek Balam is a beautiful Mayan archaeological site dating back to 300 BC. From the main pyramid you have a view of the ball game, the Oval Palace and 360 degrees of the jungle surrounding the site. X'Canche is located near the ruins of Ek Balam and is flown over by a zip line, this natural cenote with turquoise waters is ideal for swimming.

Rio Lagartos

1 h / 82 km --- A small fishing village, from which it is possible to take a boat trip through the mangrove to see alligators and flamingos.

Las Coloradas

1 h 20 / 100 km --- Visit on foot or by bike the pink lake of Las Coloradas, the salt factory of the village. An incredible setting for photo enthusiasts.

Valladolid

50 min / 50 km --- Colonial town from the 16th century, very photogenic. The ex-Convent of San Bernadino de Siena, the church of San Servacio and the street of Calz. de Los Frailes are must-sees in Valladolid.

Chichen Itzá

1 h / 70 km --- Built from the 8th century onwards, this Mayan archaeological site is one of the 7 new wonders of the world. The pyramid of Kukulcán will surprise you as soon as you enter.

Izamal

1 h 15 / 80 km --- Izamal is known in Yucatán as the "yellow city" because of its ochre facades. But it is also known as the "city of hills", in reference to the probable ruins of pyramids.
